AYURVEDIC TIPS FOR SPEECH DISORDER

Management of Speech disorder as per Ayurved, would basically be on the lines of vata vyadhi chikitsa with components of manoindriya vardhan (psycho and behavioral therapy).2

Charka samhita mentions Intellect promoting or Medhya Rasayana drugs such as Mandukaparni (Centella asiatica Linn.), Yastimadhu (Glycirrhiza glabra Linn.), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia (Wild) Miers) and Shankhapushpi (Convolvulus pleuricaulis Chois) are beneficial in these conditions. Ayurveda describes biopurificatory measures like Nasyakarma and Kanval & gandusha (swirling and holding medicated oils/ decoctions in mouth may be beneficial). Meditation, worship chanting etc. may be beneficial.3
