Heart health in Men

Ayurveda manages heart diseases through good counselling (ashvasana), cleansing therapy (panchakarma) and rasayana therapy.2 Apart from these, Ayurveda also strongly advocates making healthy diet (ahar) and lifestyle changes (vihar). Additionally medications and surgery are also used to manage or correct any symptoms.1

Diet Recommendations (Aahar)

  • Consume balanced diet (Panchbhoutik/Shadrasatmak ahar) rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, ghee, fish rich in omega fatty acids and milk treated with curcuma longa
  • Ayurvedic Herbs good for heart conditions: Amalaki, Shatavari, Guggulu, Guduchi and Mandukaparni
  • Avoid food that causes indigestion, excess salt, alcohol, astringent foods, excess tea & coffee and unwholesome food

Lifestyle changes (Vihar)

  • Be around favorable surroundings to lead a peaceful life
  • Avoid stress, excessive exercise, unprotected and excessive sex, and suppression of urges (vegavidharan)
