Dabur India crosses Rs 500 crore manufacturing milestone in Uttaranchal
  • First Company in Uttaranchal to achieve this milestone
  • Biggest manufacturing facility of Dabur, largest employer in the region
  • To expand capacity further with Rs 100 crore investment by 2010, double turnover in next two years
Dabur India, the Rs 1536 crore FMCG company, today announced that it had crossed a manufacturing milestone of Rs 500 crore at its manufacturing plant at Rudrapur.
 
This announcement was made by Mr. Sunil Duggal, CEO, Dabur India, and Mr. Charanjit Mohan, ED (operations), Dabur India, who were on a visit here to mark this milestone achieved by the facility.
 
"Our facility in Uttranchal is the biggest manufacturing unit and was commissioned in a record time of 110 days starting from ground breaking. I am happy that this unit has achieved yet another milestone by crossing the Rs 500 crore production mark within a time span of 18 months. We plan to expand this facility further and double this turnover from Uttranchal plant in next two years" said Mr. Sunil Duggal.
 
Keeping in view its growth ambition and growing consumer needs, Dabur India had formulated an aggressive manufacturing strategy in 2004 and decided to install new units in excise free zones in Uttranchal & Jammu with additional capacities in Baddi with a capex of Rs 54 crore.
 
"We were the first ones to start commercial production here and add to the prosperity of the region by providing significant direct and indirect employment opportunities. The Rs 500 crore production milestone marks an important achievement for us. We would be adding capacities for the entire Oral Care range, Shampoos, Ayurvedic Healthcare and Glucose in the next phase of expansion starting this year," said Mr. Mohan.
 
The Uttranchal facility manufactures a range of healthcare and personal care products like Hajmola, Dabur Amla Hair Oil, Vatika Hair Oil, Chyawanprash and other Ayurvedic medicines. The plant, spread over 17.5 acres and covering almost 2.5 lakh sq ft area, was set up with an investment of Rs 42 crore started construction on March 14, 2004 and commenced production with the first batch of Dabur Amla rolling out from the plant on July 2, 2004. Other products were subsequently added to the manufacturing range. The Uttranchal facility has also undertaken initiatives to maintain a peaceful & pollution free environment and has made substantial capital investment for effluent treatment in air purification, which meets international environment standards.
 
Dabur India (consolidated) has ten manufacturing units in India and five manufacturing facilities abroad - Dubai, Egypt, Nigeria, Nepal and Bangladesh.
